There are 3 types of advertisements on the Council Advertising Network:

1. House Ads: These are council ads. They are used to promote council services or events. They are displayed according to a council’s priorities or when no paid-for advertising is available. All CAN partners must have at least 1 house ad available at all times. We can assist you in the creation of house ads and provide you control over timing and placement .

2. Premium campaigns: These are paid-for advertisers that have specific campaigns running for a specified amount of time. Premium campaigns will be sent to the council for approval before they are deployed onto your site. These campaigns often have the highest revenue value associated with them and may be leader board or ibar only or have a component from both ad units.

3. Programmatic: Programmatic advertising is run through a bidding system where different companies bid for the advertising space on your site. They act to monetise inventory that is not taken up with Premium campaigns before it is passed back to house ads. They are controlled by the Category Approval List and the specific advertisers can be controlled on a site by site basis.
